1940s Brown Tilt Hat - Etsy。This is a most enchanting and artful millinery creation from a renowned Canadian milliner to high society! This is worthy of being displayed in a museum. Every piece of the hat has been magnificently created. The finished piece is something to admire. There is no crown and brim. The top of the hat consists of multiple folds of felt material. The back has a very large \"bow\" that creates an asymmetrical shape. The front of the hat is covered in shiny brown feathers placed in an extremely precise way...initially one thinks this must be mink fur, but the surprise is that they are feathers. This is stunning work! The back has another band created from multiple folds. This masterpiece will be a showpiece for any collection, and is timeless.
Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
