vintage SCHIAPARELLI hat / black wool 1950s pillbox fur halo 。Supple dove-grey velour pillbox crowned w/ a lush band of natural pheasant feathers in tones of ivory, taupe & black. The hat’s velour body was produced in Italy—then finished in Paris under Schiaparelli’s direction—reflecting the postwar practice of sourcing millinery bases from renowned Italian makers in Monza & Florence known for their luxurious velour & felt work. Worn tilted forward w/ a chignon in its day, it feels unexpectedly modern styled w/ a leather jacket & slouchy jeans. Size: 22 (approx. medium fit). Measurement estimates avail upon request. Condition: Good vintage condition. The velour body in excellent shape. Subtle feather frayed edges & light discoloration from natural glue oxidation, typical for mid-century millinery. Minor mark on brand tag ; presents exceptionally well for its age.
